Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find freedom from your hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

Find Freedom, Find Community........

The Celebrate Recovery ministry at FBC Rayville exists to bring healing to individuals facing life’s hurts, hang-ups, and habits. This healing comes through the 8 Recovery Principles as we share our lives openly, apply biblical truths, and grow spiritually. Through this process, we experience transformation from the inside out, breaking free from addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom leads to peace, joy, and a deeper relationship with God and others. As we walk through Celebrate Recovery, we find forgiveness, grace, and mercy in Jesus Christ, our one true Higher Power.

Celebrate Recovery’s 12 Principles Based on the Beatitudes

1. Realize I’m not God.

I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. (Step 1)

📖 “Happy are those who know that they are spiritually poor.” – Matthew 5:3a (TEV)

2. Earnestly believe that God exists.

I matter to Him, and He has the power to help me recover. (Step 2)

📖 “Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4 (TEV, NIV)

3. Consciously choose to commit my life to Christ.

I surrender my will to His care and control. (Step 3)

📖 “Happy are the meek.” – Matthew 5:5a (TEV)

4 & 5. Openly examine and confess my faults.

I will be honest with myself, God, and someone I trust. (Steps 4 & 5)

📖 “Happy are the pure in heart.” – Matthew 5:8a (TEV)

6 & 7. Submit to God’s changes in my life.

I ask Him to remove my character defects and transform me. (Steps 6 & 7)

📖 “Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires.” – Matthew 5:6a (TEV)

8 & 9. Evaluate my relationships.

I offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends when possible, except when doing so would harm them or others. (Steps 8 & 9)

📖 “Happy are the merciful.” – Matthew 5:7a (TEV)

📖 “Happy are the peacemakers.” – Matthew 5:9 (TEV)

10 & 11. Maintain a daily time with God.

Through self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer, I seek to know His will and gain the strength to follow it. (Steps 10 & 11)

12. Yield myself to God.

I desire to be used by Him to share the Good News with others, both through my example and my words. (Step 12)

📖 “Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires.” – Matthew 5:10 (TEV)
